Downloading Images & Galleries (e.g., Instagram)

Social Saver can also download full image galleries, user profiles (like from Instagram), or sets of pictures from many websites. This guide shows you how to use the "Image & Gallery DL" feature.

Step 1: Go to the "Image & Gallery DL" Tab

In the Social Saver app, look at the sidebar on the left. Click on the icon or text that says **"Image & Gallery DL"** (it might look like a picture icon 🖼️).

Step 2: Copy the Link

Open your web browser and go to the page with the images you want. This could be:

  • An Instagram user's profile page (e.g., `https://www.instagram.com/username/`)
  • A specific Instagram post with multiple images.
  • A photo gallery on another website.

Copy the "full web address (URL)" from your browser's address bar.

Step 3: Paste Link in Social Saver

Back in the Social Saver app, on the "Image & Gallery DL" page, you'll see a box labeled "Enter URL to download".

Click in this box and paste the link you copied (use `Ctrl+V` or `Cmd+V`, or right-click → Paste).

Step 4: Choose Where to Save (Optional)

Before you download, you can tell Social Saver where to save the pictures:

  • Click the **"Select output folder"** button to pick a specific folder on your computer.
  • If you don't choose, Social Saver will use a default folder (you can set this in the main app Settings, or the Gallery-DL settings on this page).

Tip for private content: If the images are on a site where you need to be logged in (like a private Instagram), you might need to set up "cookies". You can find options for this in the "Gallery-DL Settings" section at the bottom of this page in the app.

Step 5: Start the Download

Once your link is pasted and you're happy with the save location, click the big **"Download"** button.

Step 6: Watch the Progress

Below the download button, there's a section called **"Terminal Output"**. This black box shows text updates as Social Saver (using its `gallery-dl` tool) finds and downloads each image.

You'll see lines of text telling you which pictures are being saved. This is normal!

Step 7: Find Your Saved Pictures

When the download is finished (the text in the "Terminal Output" will stop scrolling and usually show a final message), your pictures are saved!

  • Click the **"Open Output"** button (next to "Select output folder") on the "Image & Gallery DL" page. This will open the folder where your images were saved.
  • You can also go to the **"History"** page from the sidebar. Sometimes, gallery downloads will appear there too, and you can use the folder icon 📁 to open the save location.
