Getting Started with Social Saver

Welcome! This guide will help you install Social Saver and start using it. It's quick and easy.

1. Download Social Saver

First, get the app from the official website. This ensures you have the safe, correct version.

On that page, click the download button for your computer type: Windows, macOS, or Linux.

2. Install the App

Once downloaded, follow these steps:

On Windows

  1. Find the file you downloaded (it ends with .exe).
  2. Double-click the file to run the installer.
  3. Follow the instructions shown on screen.

On macOS

  1. Find and double-click the downloaded file (ends with .dmg).
  2. A window will open showing the Social Saver icon. Drag this icon into your Applications folder.
  3. First time opening: Go to your Applications folder, find Social Saver, right-click it, choose "Open", and then click "Open" again on the warning. You only need to do this once. (You might also need to allow it in `System Settings` → `Privacy & Security`).

On Linux

You likely downloaded either an .AppImage or a .deb file.

  • If you have an .AppImage file:
    1. Open your Terminal (command line).
    2. Navigate to where you saved the file (e.g., cd Downloads).
    3. Make it runnable: chmod +x Social-Saver-*.AppImage
    4. Run it: ./Social-Saver-*.AppImage
  • If you have a .deb file (for Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, etc.):
    1. Open your Terminal.
    2. Navigate to the download folder (e.g., cd Downloads).
    3. Install command: sudo dpkg -i social-saver_*.deb
    4. If you get errors about "dependencies", run this command to fix them: sudo apt --fix-broken install

3. Open Social Saver

Now that it's installed, find Social Saver in your computer's application list (Start Menu on Windows, Applications folder on Mac, main menu on Linux) and click to open it.

4. A Quick Look Around

The main app window has a few key areas:

  • Top Input Box: Paste website links here.
  • "Search" Button: Click after pasting a link.
  • Main Area: Shows download options or current download progress.
  • Left Sidebar: Click icons here to go to History or Settings.
